Ultrasound
Ultrasound is simple, painless, and without side effects. A beam of ultrasounds is used to create images of various soft tissues such as the breast, liver, uterus, or kidney.
Gel is spread on the skin and a probe is passed over the area to be examined. Ultrasound imaging has a wide variety of applications.
ULTRASOUND GUIDED INFILTRATIONS/PUNCTURES
Infiltrations/punctures can be guided by ultrasound imaging. These procedures are done by radiologists only on specific request by doctors.
- Infiltration of the bursa/shoulder tendon, hip, etc.
- Puncture of knee cysts
- Puncture and cleaning of shoulder tendon calcifications
Ultrasound-guided tests are not covered by the RAMQ. Most insurance plans cover the costs of this type of testing. Check yours!
