Effective treatment and attentive follow-up

Once a diagnosis is confirmed and the choice of treatment made, Biron - Soins du sommeil will help you implement your treatment. Our approach to sleep apnea therapeutic follow-up is based on motivation and education. Biron - Soins du sommeil is your sleep apnea treatment partner. 

1- Initial information session

At this information session, a respiratory therapist will explain the treatment prescribed by your doctor and the best approach to take to optimize the benefits for your health and quality of life.
The following topics will be covered:
                                
•     Sleep apnea
•     Healthy lifestyle
•     Beliefs and misconceptions (thoughts and perceptions)
•     Attitudes and behaviours (actions, inaction)
•     Motivation
•     Action plan
•     Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) therapy (CPAP, AUTOCPAP, BIPAP)
•     Choice of mask for PAP therapy
•     Other treatments (positional therapy)
•     Use and upkeep of your equipment (CPAP machine, humidifier, masks, other accessories)

Biron - Soins du sommeil’s client approach is based on our understanding your needs and your understanding and accepting your condition. We ensure that you are well informed so that you can actively participate in your own treatment. After the session, a status report will be sent to your doctor and to the other health care professionals involved in your follow-up. 

2- Therapeutic follow-ups

Two follow-up phone calls will be made by the respiratory therapist who met with you:  the first after a week, the second after a month. A therapeutic follow-up will be completed and send to your doctor and to the other health care professionals involved in your follow-up. A visit to one of our locations, or to your home is suggested if you have technical problems, or difficulties adapting to the therapy. There is a three-month trial period to ensure that you find the face mask that best suits your needs. We offer constant support to help you adapt to your treatment so that you will continue it in the future. Visits to our locations are also provided for to complete a compliance report before you meet with your doctor. A third therapeutic follow-up is done after a year of treatment.
